The project was begun in the
1990s through European / Israeli cooperation.
Business and governmental organizations joined
forces to explore the feasibility of an
automatic production method for extracting
pomegranate arils for use in a range of
industries – fresh-cut, juices, and
pharmaceutics. The project leaders offering
their mechanical and engineering skills were the
Israeli Agricultural Engineering Institute (IAEI)
and Juran Technologies. |

Throughout the years of the
development process various concepts were tried
and discarded until eventually the core concept
for the new machinery took shape. The primary
aim – to develop a technology that would
significantly reduce labor requirements while
increasing production efficiency, hygiene and
profitability – posed no small challenge. The
project's happy conclusion was a technology that
combines mechanics, concept, and know-how,
bringing the general public the world's
healthiest fruit – the pomegranate. |

The ArilSystem™ production line consists

Initial intake of agricultural produce and
preparation of the fruit for aril extraction. |

Extracting Line |
|
Stage 2 involves the actual extraction of arils
from the pomegranate and their separation from
other fruit parts. |

Packing Line |
|
Stage 3 is the attractive packaging of high
quality, clean and hygienic fresh arils. This
stage is mainly for the fresh-cut market. |
